On Monday, August 3, we launched the accompanying Prague Pride program titled Identity in the City in the Kasárna Karlín venue. The traditional Pub quiz met with great participation (certainly also due to the dazzling host Tonic Garbage) and after the competition, the audience had the chance to attend the screening of the best short films of last year's festival.

On Tuesday, August 4, we hosted the accompanying Prague Pride program titled Identity in the City in the Kasárna Karlín venue. We organized Speed dating where the love of life may had been born! The dating was followed by a screening of the Polish drama Nina, which was very popular at last year's festival.

As part of our Identity in the City program at Prague Pride on Wednesday, August 5, we discussed how LGBTQ+ people live in Chechnya and the surrounding areas and what challenges they have to face in their personal lives. For security reasons, we did not publish photos of the speakers. After the discussion in Kasárna Karlín, we followed up thematically with the screening of the film Welcome to Chechnya, which was the premiere Promítej i ty! in cooperation with the One World Festival.

On August 13, we organize the distribution premiere of the film Lola, which will be presented by the director Laurent Micheli himself in the Lucerna cinema. And he won't be alone. The protagonist of the film, Maya Bollaers, will also honor the audience with her visit. In the story, she convincingly portrayed the emotional transformation of the main character Lola and was nominated for a number of film awards for her performance. The role of an unrestrained teenage girl earned her a significant Magritte Award for Best Actress. Follow the up-to-date information about the event on Facebook. (Photo: Julie Reggiani)

During the Prague Pride 2020, we are again organizing an accompanying program called Identity in the City. From August 3 to 7, you'll be able to attend evening screenings and take part in very current debates on queer topics in Kasárna Karlín venue (Prvního pluku 20, Prague 8). Discussions (with refreshments) start at 7:00 p.m. and are free of charge (Czech only). They are followed by screenings from 9:00 p.m., which are all English-friendly and for voluntary admission.

The Swedish-Georgian drama from the world of folk dances And Then We Danced hits Czech cinemas. This expressive film, which became the most favorite film of the audience at the 20th anniversary of the Mezipatra festival, is presented as the third film under our new distribution brand Queer Kino. Since May 11, 2020, you can visit cinemas all over the Czech Republic to see Levan Akin's controversial film. Follow our social media, websites of your favorite cinemas or the CSFD website, where the screening times of the film will be gradually published.

Michaela Karásek Čejková has been co-creating the main visuals of our festival with graphic designer Mario Corradini for 5 years. Her undeniable talent brought her to the finals of the Czech Grand Design competition, in which she won the Photographer of the Year 2019 award on April 29, 2020. She received this prestigious award for her photographs of the Sadalsuud collection by jeweler Janja Prokić, photographs for the Czechia project, photographs of the collection To a jen sen (Ester a Josefina) and also for photographs for the visual of the 20th Mezipatra QFF (bellow). Michaela, congratulations!

The online premiere of And Then We Danced on Tuesday, April 28, will be followed by an after party in a virtual rhythm. From 10:15 p.m, QFF Mezipatra Facebook profile will livestream from the Patra club where DJ arnii will play his set. The Prague-based DJ, which belongs to the ONYX label, is, like the film, originally from Georgia. We can promise you that after watching this controversial film about love, dance and traditions, your feet will not stay calm. Dance with us from a safe distance of your living room! We thank Radio Punctum for lending the equipment.
